However, what everyone is getting hyped up about is not actually for the song itself but the nine and half minute long music video for Telephone which was released online on March 12, 2010. It is so shocking and remarkable at the same time, that you either hate it or love it.

There was even a misunderstanding of sorts when it was reported by CNN on Sunday that MTV had banned the video. However, according to article released on the MTV website, it was explained by MTV Executive Vice President of Music and Talent Amy Doyle that, “MTV did not ban Lady Gaga and Beyonc’s ‘Telephone’ video in fact, we premiered it on Friday, March 12, on-air and online at MTV.com, two days before this story was falsely reported.

The “Telephone” video went live on MTV.com on Friday, an hour after it premiered on E!, and began airing on MTV that morning as part of the “Lady Gaga Artist Collection,”.

Regardless whether the video is banned by MTV or not, its success is very much proven by the millions of hits it already has on YouTube.

The video has all the elements of a Quentin Terrantino movie combined with a Thelma & Louise theme. It begins with the scene of two woman prison wardens taking Lady Gaga to her cell in an all women County Prison and stripping her almost nude, probably to give an answer to the rumours on whether or not she has a penis. If this isn’t shocking enough, the video then shows a raunchy lesbian scene between Lady Gaga and a butch inmate, followed by the poisoning of Tyrese Gibson by Beyonce and a mass murder of diner patrons by the duo.
